Neurofeedback (Passive Training) is conducted using Neuro-Gen HPN technology. Neuro-Gen HPN is a tested, noninvasive process that assists clients in achieving optimal brain functioning--without effort or engagement. Neuro-Gen HPN is modern neuroscience made practical; it is research-supported and effective in training the brain without the use of medication, as well as treating a vast number of mental health disorders and/or personal challenges.
Active Neurofeedback is a brain-based form of biofeedback that utilizes brainwave patterns to teach clients how to approach and perform tasks with greater efficiency. Clients are actively engaged in a video exercise that facilitates visual and auditory rewards when they are fully present, focused, and attentive within the exercise. The brain then becomes aware of this more optimal way of functioning and corrects itself by learning these new optimal patterns.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a robust approach in identifying faulty and maladaptive belief systems that drive automatic thought patterns and evoke reactive emotional responses that give rise to unwanted behaviors. Clients are assisted in exploring the origin of maladaptive belief systems and automatic thoughts, and are supported in replacing them with objective and realistic goals for new beliefs, thoughts, emotional responses, and behavior.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic intervention that utilizes rhythmic left-right (bilateral) stimulation via tactile sensations, or auditory sounds, or visual stimuli. EMDR is effective for helping people reorganize and resolve disturbing thought processes and recover from trauma and other distressing experiences in life. EMDR is an activating intervention that first requires a solid foundation of grounding and stabilization.
In narrative therapy, emphasis is placed on stories clients develop and carry with them throughout their lives. Narratives influence how we see and relate to ourselves, others, and the world. Some narratives are helpful in achieving our purposeful goals in life; other narratives can be unhelpful and thwart our progress and purpose in life, and leave us feeling stuck. In Narrative Therapy, stories are deconstructed into smaller parts to explore meaning and influential messages.
Transgenerational Family Therapy attends to patterns and dynamics that transfer across two or more generations This intervention pays close attention to how the past impacts the present. It focuses on how families develop relational and behavioral patterns in response to stress that prohibit healthy development and lead to greater problems. Individuals and families are assisted to identify and develop new ways of relating within the family unit and in other domains.

The therapeutic process is as much an educational and learning process as it is a healing process. Consider the famous quote by Donald Rumsfeld... "There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know." Psychoeducation is a powerful and effective intervention to facilitate learning and relearning in the unknown areas of our lives.
The regulation of emotion, especially the management of threat and stress, is a core component of a secure and safe relational attachment. A secure relational attachment exhibits a link between healthy and supportive social relationships and overall health and well-being.
Children who develop a secure relational attachment in their family of origin exhibit greater resilience, self-control, curiosity, and even greater wellness and health. They confidently learn and succeed at developing and navigating healthy, supportive, and meaningful, relationships.
Children who grow up in environments of ongoing threat and traumatic stress are often inhibited in the management of their emotions. Life becomes more about survival than learning, and skills for social reciprocity are often thwarted. Consequently, children can develop relational attachment styles that compromise the value and meaning of relationship, as well as their overall well-being in adulthood.
Such relational attachments styles can be ambivalent (anxious-preoccupied), or avoidant (dismissive), or disorganized (fearful, love/hate relationship). As a result of these learned relational attachment styles, individuals can experience ongoing struggles in developing and maintaining healthy and meaningful relationships throughout life. There is good news, however; your brain can change and learn new ways of relating (Newman & Newman, 2018).
All services and interventions offered at NCAS are trauma-informed, evidence-based practices that are conducted through a Neuropsychotherapy lens.
Neuropsychotherapy is an approach to mental health counseling that considers the relationship between the mind, brain, body, environment, social interaction, and overall well-being.
Joy facilitates and fosters self-awareness in clients to help them understand how their brain is wired and functioning, so they can learn and discover more about the
'why' behind their choices and behavior.
Our services can help you overcome challenges, refine your purpose in life, and reach your full potential. Reach out to NCAS today!
